"The ultimate way to comfortably belay"
We first discovered these weird looking glasses while climbing in Kalymnos. Sam had developed a severe case of "belayer's neck" after weeks of endless belay sessions which was causing constant pain and headaches - not cool. We had nine months of roadtripping and climbing ahead of us, so something had to be done. After trying these glasses we knew we had to get a pair. We figured the cost was about the same as a couple of chiro or physio sessions. In the end, it ended up being the best money we ever spent. In a week - neck pain gone.

I have used them regularly for the last month, and they are now, without question, an indispensable part of our climbing gear. I’ve had some shoulder/neck issues in the past, and it’s incredible to belay someone for a full pitch, watching them the entire time, and not be left with a sore neck at the end. As a bonus, while you are standing there looking straight ahead, you can actually focus on maintaining good posture as well, which we as climbers generally suck at.

They are great I must say. Super clear image. Exquisite workmanship. Lightweight. And the "looking noble carrying case" is well, pretty darn cool too. Everybody who tried them on thought they was the shiznit as well. I didn't even have to bend my neck to freak out during the leader's sketchfest....

OFFICIAL COMPANY STATEMENT
The belay glasses CU sport an innovative design, which allows you to belay your climbing partner without straining your neck and therefore reduces in neck pain. CU are prism glasses, which can be used for in- and outdoor-climbing alike. They basically allow you to keep your head straight while being able to see what happens directly above you.
Health aspects:
With CU glasses overstretching and unhealthy straining of the neck is avoided. The belayer hardly needs to change his natural head position while still being able to observe his climbing partner all the time. CU glasses are particularly useful for belaying in long routes and steep walls. They are also very good for belaying your partner while he or she is checking out a route.
Safety aspects:
The climber can be observed during climbing without the head having to remain in an overstretched position. This also means that the belayer does not have to look down every so often to release the strain on the neck as is the case without CU glasses. Permanent observation increases the safety of the climber. With CU glasses the belayer can stand closer to the wall, which means substantial advantages for the climber as well as for the belayer in case of a fall. CU are designed to leave enough free field of vision so that you can still see your belay device, the start of the route, the ground etc. and fulfill all your belay duties.
Those who wear glasses can usually simply place CU over their normal glasses. CU are easy to use and the glasses supply a very clear, non-inverted picture. It only takes a short time to get used to them. Once accustomed to CU glasses, you will not want to belay without them anymore.

After spending a long time belaying, especially if your climber is working a route, theres no question you wont end up with a sore neck. My CU's allow me to belay comfortably all day with ease. Get some!

I was hesitant at first to get the glasses because of the price. I had been belaying for years without a need for such fancy devices. It really did seem like something you only get if you have money to spare. But then I used them, and my world changed. I never knew belaying could be so comfortable. With these glasses I find I stay interested in climbing a lot longer and my whole day is a lot more positive because of it. I had not realised how fatiguing looking up could be. The glasses allow me to rest while belaying so I can continue to climb hard.

i've been putting off buying a pair of these for donkeys due to the expense. i finally gave in and i'm so glad i did. they are especially useful for climbing trips when you are belaying for long periods. if you think about it, they are about the same cost as a few trips to the physio to get your neck sorted out

great glasses. I regret holding off buying these for so long. A lot of people at KP have had a go on mine, and all agree they're great. Regards, Agfox.
